    The Glen Retirement System is looking for a dedicated and experienced Assistant Administrator for our Long-Term Care Facility, Village Health Care at The Glen.

    ASSIGNED SHIFT: Shift is normally an 8-hour shift 8:00AM to 4:30PM but could be more or less and hours could be changed depending on the needs of The Glen. (Assignment may vary)

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Functions as Assistant Administrator and assumes Administrator functions in absence of Administrator. Ensures that the quality-of-service delivery is maintained according to The Glen philosophy and goals.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.

    Must be able to work overtime as required.

    Well organized and self-motivated.

    Computer skills appropriate to job functions

    Education or experience in long term health care or related field desirable

    Bachelor’s Degree required.

    Licensed as a LTC Administrator in the state of Louisiana or AIT applicant preferable

    Experience in personnel management

    Flexibility in work hours

    Working knowledge of state and federal regulations

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Administrative:

    Assist in managing the day-to-day operations according to the responsibilities delegated by the Administrator.

    Attends team meetings to keep abreast of census changes and current operational issues.

    Maintains safe and productive work environment with daily environmental rounds, allocation of resources and evaluation of staff morale and productivity.

    Assist Administrator with formal investigations as assigned.

    Supervises facility staff as assigned by Administrator and makes decisions regarding personnel screening, hiring, orientation, training, & disciplinary actions.

    Supervises receptionist. Responsible for scheduling, monitors receptionist desk, communicates information related to expectations of receptionist role, and conducts performance evaluations, training and disciplinary actions

    Reviews payroll, accounts payable, and patient fund accounts with the Administrative Assistant. May assist with payroll-based journal data collection and entry.

    Leads by example. Practices coaching and mentoring techniques with facility staff.

    Participates in budget planning, implementation & monitoring.

    Participates in the Facility Assessment.

    Participates in budget development.

    Delegate’s responsibility and authority to appropriate staff to carry out job functions.

    Coordinates departmental activities to assure departments work toward achievement of goals.

    Communicates with staff to resolve problems through the selection of appropriate communication techniques, staff meetings, department head meetings, counseling and coordination of written material.

    Conducts interviews and tours with prospective residents/families as directed by administrator.

    Promotes resident-centered care.

    Facilitates Household functions including, but not limited to, coordination of household staffing plans between all departments and life enrichment activities.

    Education:

    1. Attends continuing education offerings applicable to role.
    2. Participates in staff training and competency evaluations utilizing adult learning techniques.

    Quality Assurance

    Coordinates and schedules QA Committee meetings.

    Assists in formulating and implementing QA and QAPI Planning.

    Collects, reviews and trends data from all departments.

    Presents findings at QA Committee meetings.

    Promotes optimal care delivery through daily rounds, interventions, training, resident/family interaction, and evaluation of staff performance.

    Regulatory:

    Helps to ensure that facility complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

    Risk Management

    Develops good rapport with residents, families and staff

    Involved in resolution of resident, family, staff concerns

    Reviews and follows up incident reports

    Chairs Safety Committee

    Collects and analyzes incident reports for patterns, trends

    Assists in formulation, implementation and review of safety and emergency plans.

    Reviews video surveillance on an as needed basis.

    Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversight and supervision of VHC supervisory & hourly staff.

    Supervises and schedules receptionists. Fill in on schedule if needed for call-outs.

    Conducts performance reviews and counseling of receptionists.

    Participates in employee interviews and candidate selection.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.

    Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 90 pounds.

    Sustained & significant walking throughout facility and/or facility grounds

    Bending, stooping to accommodate tasks associated with job functions

    Finger and hand dexterity for computer and essential equipment use

    Visual & auditory acuity to perform job functions
