    ASSIGNED SHIFT: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Observe for fire and safety hazards or violations of fire and safety regulations and policies and makes regular rounds to help maintain the safety and security of residents, visitors and staff. Directs visitors during tour of duty and responds to residential residents’ emergency call lights.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Observe for and report any fire, safety or security violations or hazards.

    Respond to emergency calls of a security nature and notify the appropriate personnel and authorities as necessary.

    Keep record in confidential security log book of any unusual or significant event during shift.

    Complete an incident report on all incidents or unusual events. Anything important enough to report verbally is significant enough to record.

    Consider all incident reporting confidential and notify only the Maintenance Director and/or Head of the Operation where incident occurred. The CEO must be immediately notified of all significant risk management issues and incidents.

    Know locations of all fire equipment, pull stations and control panels

    Lock and alarm all designated doors, exits and windows at scheduled times.

    Observe condition of lights, electrical and mechanical equipment, storerooms, offices and other restricted areas.

    Be aware of irregular conditions and sounds.

    Make scheduled, as well as, unscheduled rounds throughout the buildings and outside grounds.

    Monitor security cameras when in office.

    In the event of a mechanical, electrical or plumbing problem, take temporary action to immediately relieve the problem and notify maintenance.

    Unlock exits and doors at designated times.

    Maintain designated workstation in neat, orderly manner.

    Monitor fire alarm panel for reset needs and/or problems.

    Investigate & report any door alarming after alarms are set.

    Greet and assist visitors, residents and employees in courteous manner.

    Follow shift and weekend duties as assigned.

    Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.

    Prior experience as security officer desirable.

    Flexible hours & must be able to work overtime as required.

    Well organized and self-motivated.

    Computer skills appropriate to job functions

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.

    Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 90 pounds.

    Extensive walking, bending, sitting, reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing

    Exposure to inclement weather on outside rounds, with possibly significant changes in temperature for brief periods.
