    Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.

    Must be able to work overtime as required.

    Well organized and self-motivated.

    Computer skills appropriate to job functions

    Activities Director Certification is preferred

    Meets all state & federal requirements for certification as an activity’s director

    Specialized training or experience in geriatric activities and especially in regard to those with dementia desirable

    Leadership, interpersonal relationship skills

    Knowledge of federal & state regulations governing activities is preferable.

    Strong observation, assessment and analytical skills;

    Must be able to operate a motor vehicle; has valid driver’s license

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Facilitates each household’s abilities to plan and carry out personal interests and social activities for residents and the household. Performs all tasks that require an activities professional, and assists households as needed, in providing other activities. Works to grow the household staff to a level of professional expertise in life enrichment.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Directs and supervises activity program.

    Responsible for seasonal decorations and bulletin boards in resident’s rooms & commons areas.

    Responsible for timely and appropriate notice of all activity events to residents, family, and staff.

    Makes regularly scheduled resident visits.

    Uses personal and departmental goals as guidelines for development.

    Completes initial Activity Assessment on admission.

    Responsible for recording activity progress notes quarterly or more often as necessary.

    Facilitates each household’s abilities to plan and carry out personal interests and social activities for residents and the household, including creating a diversity of opportunities for meaningful pursuits, daily pleasures, recreation, exercise, friendships, social interaction, growth and learning, fun and enjoyment, personal routines and household rituals.

    Provides knowledge and skills to life enhancement guides and staff in all households, assuring that the households have the necessary resources (community linkages, materials and supplies, skills and knowledge) to be successful and to provide continuity in quality resident care.

    Assures regulatory compliance by encouraging appropriate record keeping and documentation in households and by maintaining appropriate professional files. Monitors activity documentation. Assists household coordinators with activity documentation training and support.

    Coordinates and recruits’ volunteers.

    Makes on-going efforts to facilitate engagement between residents and the community through out trips. Invites community to facility for planned programs. Works to establish life enrichment relationships between community and residents.

    Develops and maintains a library of activity suggestions and supplies that grow everyone’s abilities to bring forth a good daily life for residents.

    Works collaboratively with social service mentor to support life enhancement in the households.

    Keeps abreast of current state and federal regulations, as well as professional standards and makes recommendations for incorporation into policy and procedure.

    Reviews program policies and procedures at least annual and makes recommendations for change.

    Performs professional assessments and monitors the quality of delegated assessments and activities functions through continuous quality improvement.

    Develops monthly activity calendar.

    Facilitates Resident Council in each household. Maintains council records for each household.

    Regularly plans events and initiates Event Sheets as needed.

    Responsible for completion of budget for the Activity Department. Oversees monthly spending for life enrichment.

    Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.

    Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 90 pounds.
