    The Glen is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Culinary Shift Supervisor to join our team! As a Culinary Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to work with an amazing team in a dynamic environment. We're looking for someone who has a passion for serving others, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to create and assist with implementing new ideas.

    Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    Proven experience as a supervisor.

    Comprehensive knowledge of dining room service techniques, resident relations, plate presentation, sanitation, food handling, personnel administration and special functions.

    ServSafe certified within one year from acceptance of position.

    Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.

    Must be able to work overtime as required.

    High School Graduate or equivalent.

    Ability to read, speak, write and follow oral and written instruction.

    Experience in a supervisory position with several years of experience in the area of Food Service.

    Basic computer skills: Word, Email, Excel, Spread Sheets

    Well organized and motivated

    Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high traffic area.

    Work as a team member.

    Ability to use business math concepts.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Shift Supervisor oversees the operations of shift based on assignment along with keeping the hourly culinary team members apprised of operational issues that include service standards and work assignments.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Assist in providing quality food and an enjoyable dining experience for residents, guests and staff while honoring person-centered and resident-directed care.

    Serves as the team leader on assigned shift.

    Assist Culinary Services Department with replacement calls for absentees and call-ins for severs, dietary assistants and cooks.

    Assist with scheduling culinary team members (servers, cooks and dietary assistants).

    Has knowledge of standard cooking, baking, grilling and sauté’ techniques.

    Working knowledge of state and federal regulations. Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.

    Assist in supervising all service employees during mealtimes in the dining room and restaurants in cooperation with entire team.

    Circulates in all dining areas during meal periods to field resident/guest comments pertaining to service and food quality. Immediately attempts to correct problems in these areas.

    Ensure accurate fulfillment of orders and checks food quality/presentation.

    Respond quickly to resident and guest requests.

    Processes orders through Point-of-Sale terminal.

    Assist in supervising the scheduling of all special functions and ensures these functions are serviced correctly.

    Assist in onboarding and mentoring all service employees assuring proper orientation, training, coaching, education, counseling and performance appraisals are maintained in a manner supportive of team and professional standards throughout the community.

    Assist in conducting Production meetings before each meal period for all service staff to ensure that all departments’ standards are being upheld.

    Assist with all resident special functions.

    Responsible for on ensuring dining room and restaurants are appropriately sets for dining.

    Assures that resident rights and responsibilities are honored and met.

    Supports meeting all resident and household needs by actively assisting (to the extent of cross training and certifications) in all tasks to meet identified needs.

    Collaborates with the environmental services and housekeeping service team coordinators to assure their direct support to staff in establishing professional expertise and technical competencies in their areas of competency.

    Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assist in supervising and scheduling servers and dietary assistants as needed.

    Assist in supervising and scheduling cooks and utility as needed.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Extensive walking, standing, stooping most of the working day.

    Stoops, reaches for, lifts, and carries food and kitchen equipment.

    Tastes and smells foods to determine quality and palatability.

    Hand dexterity to prepare food, visual acuity to assess presentation of food in attractive manner.

    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 90 pounds
