    The Glen Retirement System is seeking an outstanding

    Community Life Coordinator (Activity Director) for our

    Independent and Assisted Living Community who can develop and promote

    a strong activity program that stimulates and promotes the social, spiritual, emotional,

    physical and intellectual needs of the residents.

    ASSIGNED SHIFT: Shift is normally an 8 hour shift 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but could be more or less and hours could be changed depending on the needs of The Glen. (Assignment may vary)

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Computer skills appropriate to job requirements

    Minimum--high school diploma

    Experience in Long-Term Care or Assisted Living desirable or at least two (2) years working with senior population.

    Active, enthusiastic, energetic and creative

    Professional appearance and friendly demeanor with positive attitude

    Good communication, organizational and time management skills

    Must be able to operate a motor vehicle; has valid driver’s license and willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s license

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Plan, schedule and implement routine educational, cultural and stimulating programs for group and individual activities.

    Plan, implement, and schedule special service projects for residents.

    Plan and schedule regular out-trips providing opportunities for residents to socialize.

    Ensures residents have the opportunity to participate in a variety of exercise programs.

    Checks on the well-being of residents during meal times as requested by the Assisted Living Director.

    Organize and implement a viable volunteer program. Screen, recruit, train, and delegate volunteers to appropriate activity. Maintain record of volunteers and volunteer hours in accordance with System policy.

    Responsible for the development, planning, implementation and distribution of monthly Community Calendar providing opportunities for residents to socialize and enjoy recreational activities each day.

    Interviews new residents to determine their interests, talents, hobbies, cultural and spiritual preferences, and social needs in order to create an individualized activity plan.

    Ensures that the main activity multi-purpose room is neat, fun and appealing to the residents, family members and guest touring the community. Utilizes other common areas effectively to maximize a variety of activities.

    Responsible for on-going interaction with all residents; one-on-one or group activities. Develops specific group activities related to hobbies and talents, such as bridge clubs, bird watching, scrap book, music, reading, arts and crafts.

    Schedules a variety of outside entertainment to come to the community for the residents enjoyment at least 2 to 3 times a month.

    Responsible for completion of periodic Resident Interest Survey.

    Take a leadership role in decorating, planning for and implementing appropriate seasonal decorations.

    Responsible for motivating and encouraging residents to participate in Resident Council meetings.

    Responsible for preparation and distribution of news releases to System office by 15th of each month.

    Assists in transporting residents to doctor appointments, etc., as needed.

    Responsible for photographic record of residents and special events and submits photographs of community interest to System Newsletter Production Staff for possible publication in quarterly newsletter.

    Assist with obtaining and monitoring condition of fresh flowers in dining room as needed.

    Responsible for correspondence with volunteers acknowledging gifts, volunteer services and community visits

    Prepares and submits appropriate reports at Key Staff Meetings

    Maintains monthly attendance roster, which records resident participation in various activities

    Accountable for sustaining activities department within budgetary guidelines

    May be assigned to committees, work groups or community events participation

    Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area

    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; push, pull up to 90 pounds

    Finger and hand dexterity to operate small equipment and complete job tasks
