    The Glen Retirement System is seeking an experienced, dedicated and organized RN, Nursing Director with excellent nursing and administrative skills for our Assisted Living Community.

    ASSIGNED SHIFT: Shift is normally an 8 hour shift from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but could be more or less hours and could be changed depending on the needs of The Glen. (Assignments may vary)

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for the preparation, coordination and implementation of the healthcare services section of the resident’s person centered service plan for ARCP level 3 and level 4. Review and oversee all health related direct care personnel.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Must be on call and readily accessible to the facilities 24 hours a day. Takes part in direct care staff performance reviews and disciplinary actions.

    Responsible for the pre-assessments of prospective residents to help determine appropriateness of admission.

    Responsible for post-admit assessments, planning and completion of residents’ person centered care service plan. (PCSP) This includes a documented review of the PCSP according to licensing standards.

    Responsible for medication administration in accordance with ARCP level 3 and 4

    Responsible for and coordinates the monthly pharmacist medication reviews for ARCP level 3 and 4.

    Responsible for notifying the resident’s prescribing healthcare provider of the pharmacist’s monthly review related to possible adverse drug interactions, documentation of the review and notification on resident record for ARCP level 3 and 4.

    Responsible for the intake, distribution, discrepancies and disposal of narcotics according to the narcotic policy & procedure for ARCP level 3 and 4.

    Responsible for making referrals to the residents’ primary care physicians for needed monitoring tests and to evaluate the need for lab monitoring.

    Ensures that all medications are stored in accordance with industry standards or according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

    Responsible for ensuring that medications shall be administered by an individual who is currently professionally licensed in Louisiana to administer medications.

    Responsible for compliance of infection control in accordance with the infection control policy.

    Assesses in-service needs of direct care staff and coordinates training & education with Glen to Human Resources Department.

    Participates in the facilities’ quality assurance programs.

    Participates in preparation of the annual Nursing department budgets.

    Approves nursing staff ARCP level 3 and 4 work schedules.

    Reviews all incident reports.

    Administers medications on shifts as needed in ARCP level 3 and 4.

    Contacts physicians & other healthcare providers on resident’s behalf, as needed.

    Responsible for the evaluation of third party providers of resident care, and ensures that third party contracts and orientations are provided, up-to-date, and documented in resident’s records.

    May be assigned to committees, work groups or community events participation.

    May be assigned to transport residents to medical appointments, as necessary.

    Other related projects, duties, and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Oversees functioning of the nursing department (ARCP level 3 and 4)

    Screens, hires, terminate nursing employees (ARCP level 3 and 4) with approval of Assisted Living Director

    Assists in maintaining nursing staff employees (ARCP level 3 and 4) records in a current and orderly manner.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Registered nurse, BS degree preferable

    Genuine interest in geriatrics and long term care industry

    Long term care experience preferred

    First Aid and CPR Certification

    Must be people-oriented, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people

    Must be able to work flexible hours and take call 24 hours/day

    Possess Management and Leadership skills

    Well organized and self-motivated

    Computer skills appropriate to requirements of job

    Valid driver’s license and ability to drive motor vehicle

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area

    Requires taking call 24 hours/day, with possible disruption in sleep hours

    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds & pull/push up to 90 pounds

    Requires extensive sitting, standing and walking

    Hand and finger dexterity to perform skilled tasks and small equipment operation

    Hearing, visual acuity to perform assessments, skilled tasks, and small equipment operation
