    Ascent Funding is an award-winning student lender on a mission to revolutionize how students access, pay for higher education, and succeed in their post-education careers. We are looking to grow the team to bring on a product management and marketing generalist to help us execute innovative product and service projects that ensure students have access to and benefit from high-quality education programs.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    OBJECTIVE: This role will be responsible for developing products & services to help students succeed across the traditional higher education and accelerated learning (bootcamp) industries. The manager will be responsible for product and project management, coordination of internal and external resources and timelines, outreach/engagement/contracting with external partners, and reporting on program(s) status & progress. This role requires a self-motivated, high-performing team member who is equal parts entrepreneurial, strategic, analytical, and executional. An ideal candidate is relentlessly focused on personal and professional growth, able to operate in ambiguity, and committed to expanding their skill set to benefit their career and the company.

    REPORTS TO: This role will report to the Senior Director of Marketing.

    WHAT YOU’LL BRING: This role will be a key contributor to the marketing and product/strategy teams, with responsibilities and attributes including but not limited to the following. You must:

    • Bring a deep empathy for our customers (primarily students, secondarily schools) and a sincere desire to resolve their pain points
    • Have experience designing and delivering world-class experimentative products and marketing campaigns that address challenging customer pain points
    • Thrive as a creative problem solver with excellent analytical and written/verbal/presentation communication skills, and a keen business sense
    • Employ excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as attentiveness to details and a commitment to follow up. Able to effectively manage and prioritize multiple ongoing projects at any given time
    • Be comfortable acting on relatively ambiguous concepts and translate them into concrete action in a fast-paced environment
    • Be data-driven in everything you do - you enjoy doing 1:1 qualitative research with students and analyzing data to inform your product development decisions
    • Be a strong operator - you are self-motivated and take ownership of your projects. You are open to feedback and input, but you take responsibility for the KPIs for your programs and you continuously look to improve both yourself and the projects you lead
    • Challenge the status quo. You are not interested in copying other products - you want to disrupt higher education and you will be relentless in creating innovative solutions to student problems
    • Be comfortable pointing out opportunities for improvement for yourself and your projects and understand that reporting isn’t meant to reinforce decisions, it’s meant to challenge them in pursuit of creating innovative solutions

    IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

    • Strive to deeply understand our student & school customers and their pain points through deep research and in-depth interviews
    • Define innovative solutions for student customer needs, using design thinking methodologies and rapid experimentation; be hands-on with the product and hold a high bar for quality
    • Own the product lifecycle from requirements gathering through production and release. You will guide all elements and inputs in the product development process: Concept > Research > Storyboard > Wireframe > Feedback > Develop > Launch > Iterate > Repeat
    • Lead diverse teams & resources, including internal product, UX/UI design, development, analytics resources, and external partners alike and execute Growth Initiatives to stay on-time and on-budget
    • Conduct feedback sessions with our two customer audiences, schools & students, to inform product/service strategy and product development and leverage results to define the student customer journey and identify opportunities for improvement
    • Conduct UX and usability testing for websites, new products/services, marketing campaigns and programs with existing student and school customers
    • Strategize and implement marketing campaigns and content (social, blog, email, ads, websites) to drive traffic and conversion into new products/services and ensure marketing tactics produce data in an actionable format

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required. Business/marketing preferred.
    • 2+ years of marketing and/or product management experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
    • Experience working cross functionally among both remote and in person teams
    • Bonus points for the following:
      • Experience with bootcamp education
      • Experience with both B2B and B2C marketing
      • Experience with Canva, Google Suite, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Data Studio, Hubspot, Wordpress
