Based in Carlsbad, CA, we are an established, fast growing industry leader with 215 retail locations in 80 domestic and international markets. We are seeking a full time, in-house Corporate Counsel, to support the growing operation of our organization. The ideal Candidate with outstanding legal and communication skills will work closely with our Chief Legal Officer and outside counsel, and collaborate on complex corporate projects with other members of the executive team. This position will report to the Chief Legal Officer.

    Responsibilities:

    Negotiating, drafting, and executing a variety of commercial contracts, NDAs, domestic and international franchise related contracts, including franchise agreements and multi-unit development agreements, licensing agreements, SAAS agreements, and more.

    Developing an expert understanding of federal, state, and international franchise sales; franchise relationship and business opportunity laws, rules and regulations including overseeing compliance with FTC (Federal Trade Commission) rules and regulations, as applied to franchisors; and providing competent counsel to all relevant stakeholders on the impact of these laws as they relate to franchise sales and development to ensure compliance therewith.

    Management of Good Feet’s trademark and patent portfolio

    Serving as subject matter expert of the inner workings of, and ensuring the integrity of the data maintained in, the central database repository and Salesforce franchise management platform.

    Collaborating with cross-departmental business units such as franchise development, compliance, operations, construction, finance, manufacturing and supply chain, and other internal teams as needed to complete various projects as they arise and provide sound legal advice.

    Reviewing and negotiating commercial leases and working to facilitate lease execution for franchise and corporate Good Feet outlets.

    Manage outside counsel effectively

    Advise on various employment matters

    Qualifications:

    Law degree from an ABA accredited law school.

    California Bar License or ability to qualify for an in-house certification (Required).

    At least 2 years of experience practicing law with a preferred background in Franchise Law, Transactional, Real Estate, Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Finance and Employment Law.

    Ability to work cross functionally with other departments and be a team player.

    Suggest and implement process improvements and enhancements, when identified.

    Strong analytical skills, drafting still and negotiation skills.

    Demonstrated organization skills and strong attention to detail.

    Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

    Strong work ethic essential.

    Self-motivated and innovative.

    Compensation:

    $100-110k salary + bonus + benefits (multiple medical plan offerings at no cost to our employees)
