Mechanic (Part Time)

Under the direction of the Production Manager, the overarching responsibility of the Mechanic is to keep all of the mechanical equipment pertaining to our landscape business in good working order by instituting good maintenance procedures as per equipment guidelines.

Reports to: Production Manager

Job Requirements:

Certified training in small engines or 5 yrs specific experience

Stihl Training Certified or working to accreditation is an asset

Mechanic certifications an asset

Operational Responsibilities

Attends work on a regular, punctual, and dependable basis according to the part time work schedule.

Utilizes any tools, equipment, vehicles, and supplies in a responsible manner and keeps the shop clean and organized

Proactively assists the Team Leaders in identifying and resolving all equipment service issues or concerns on a timely and proactive basis.

Keeps equipment sharp as necessary

Assists the Team Leader in monitoring the shop area, and equipment status, and neutralizing any potential hazards that exist for Team members during the performance of their duties

Performs assigned work in a safe, expeditious, professional manner with honesty and integrity.

Mechanical equipment includes but is not limited to: push mowers, ride on mowers, line trimmers, snow clearing equipment, salting equipment, blowers, hedge trimmers, trailers and light auto mechanical work, welding

Management Responsibilities:

The mechanic is responsible for maintaining the shop area in an organized fashion, as well as maintaining an inventory of parts/supplies as per our needs

Proactive and preventative maintenance is the responsibility of the Mechanic, with priorities set based on the season and mutual consideration from the Production Manager

Train staff in the proper use of equipment as well as train them in critical watch areas.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Maintains records on each piece of equipment as per work done/needed, as well as inventory of supplies

Maintains an inventory of operator and service manuals for standard equipment

Communicates with equipment suppliers on status of parts/equipment as needed.

The mechanic will use our app based system of recording repairs
