    We have an opportunity for a part-time Collections Specialist to join the Historical Resources department. This position will be responsible for the movement, location tracking, documentation, assembly, care, and storage of collection artifacts as a member of/or in cooperation with a variety of teams to accomplish the institution's mission and goals. This position will focus on preparation of collections to facilitate digitation requests, new acquisitions, artifact loans, exhibits, inventory, and artifact storage initiatives across our Dearborn campus.

    Essential Responsibilities
    • Moves, packs, re-houses artifacts as required for collection processes and access related to museum operations (digitization, exhibit, loan, new acquisition protocols, deaccession).
    • Documents artifact location changes and activity status using EMu computerized collections management system, e-mail, and other systems as requested.
    • Follows established professional procedures and museum best practices for collections care.
    • Organizes and/or maintains order and organization of collections and historical materials in processing and storage situations.
    • Works, communicates, and acts as a team player with a variety of staff, including curators, registrars, conservators, digitization staff, or others and provides timely reports on status of projects to supervisor.
    • Contributes to the effective team collaboration regarding collections related issues and opportunities by providing knowledge and expertise.
    • Performs other activities as necessary to support collections moves. **_

    Your Qualifications_**
    • Undergraduate degree in a humanities area of study preferred
    • 2 years' experience in a collections-related area
    • Experience using museum techniques for packing, storage, recordkeeping, and movement utilizing specialized tools in a storage environment
    • Valid driver's license
    • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE when required for collections activities
    • Knowledge of windows-based computer software
    • Experience with Collections Management Software
