    We currently have a full-time CARRIAGE DRIVER opportunity on our Historic Transportation Operations team. This Union position operates horse-drawn vehicle rides, delivers historic presentations to the public and maintains horses, equipment, and barn.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Drives horse-drawn vehicles and implements.

    • Delivers narrated horse-drawn vehicle tours of Greenfield Village for visitors as a Certified carriage driver upon completion of Equine Driver Certification training.

    • Prepares horses (feeding, grooming, etc.) and equipment (harness, bridles, etc.) for daily work.

    • Maintains carriages and horse equipment.

    • Serves as a member of the Barn Team under the supervision of the Manager of Historic Transportation Operations and provides expertise within the team with other teams as appropriate.

    • Ensures safety of passengers, other visitors, and staff through appropriate knowledge and action.

    • Maintains cleanliness in all areas of equine operations.

    • Provides hospitality and service to visitors.

    • Participates in activities and decisions of the daily work team.

    • Effectively communicates horse health to Full time barn staff and/or Historic Transportation Operations Manager.

    • Communicates regularly with other Team members and the Team Leader about operational problems, experiences, and contributes to the review and evaluation of Team programs.

    • Participates in Team training sessions.

    • Performs other activities as necessary.

    • Contributes to the effective team management of all problems, issues and opportunities.

    YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or GED

    • Experience working with horses

    • Weekday, weekend, evening and holiday availability required

    • Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions, including extreme and severe weather; work areas susceptible to barn conditions such as, but not limited to, dust, straw, hay, and livestock urine and fecal matter.
