    The Diversity and Inclusion Internship Program at The Henry Ford is a cohort-based program that offers professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities. We invite diverse candidates* who are curious about careers in the museum world to become a part of our legacy and take it forward. FOR WINTER 2023, INTERNSHIPS WILL LAST 15 WEEKS, PROJECTED TO BEGIN ON JANUARY 23 AND CONCLUDE ON MAY 5. ALL INTERNSHIPS ARE PAID OPPORTUNITIES.

    HOW WILL WE WORK TOGETHER?  

    The GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) ANALYST INTERN can expect to work hybrid.  Based on specific project needs, there are times when you and the team will work on-site at The Henry Ford's campus in Dearborn or other locations in the Metro Detroit area. 

    The GIS Analyst Intern will have the opportunity to work directly with the lead innovator of the Innovation Atlas, our Head of Analytics & Business Intelligence, to contribute to the success of ongoing and forthcoming projects. As our GIS Analyst Intern, you can expect to receive guidance and training that meets you where you are and prepares you for where you want to go. 

    Potential projects for the internship include building interactive map experiences, developing impact and success stories, and delivering marketing/audience segments.   

    WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE?  

    • Proficiency in working with ESRI and supporting products (ARCGIS, Experience Builder, Business Analyst, etc.) 
    • Basic experience with data querying and modeling  
    • Experience working with most systems and tools we currently use (Excel, SQL, Python, and Power BI)  
    • An academic background that includes Geographic Information Systems, Urban Planning, or others with a passion for statistics and research
    • Curiosity  
    • Dedication to collaboration and teamwork  
    • Ability to ask for help
