    Job Description

    JOIN THE HJF TEAM!

    HJF is seeking a DATA ANALYST III to support the Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) located at the Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to GSN.

    The incumbent conducts research and develops state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to better understand the complex effects of concussion and mTBI.  Presents and publishes research findings/outcomes at conferences and scientific journals.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Apply machine learning techniques to synthesize, identify, and evaluate clinical patterns.
    2. Leverage, design, and implement machine learning using clinical healthcare data.
    3. Collects, processes, and interprets experimental data.
    4. Provide guidance and instruction on current statistical and machine learning methods.
    5. Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and informaticists to develop and conduct research within the healthcare sector.
    6. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficient programming skill in Python, R, Matlab, or WEKA. Knowledge of modern machine learning and optimization methods, clustering analysis, probabilistic inference, predictive analytics, and dimensionality reduction techniques. Knowledge of machine learning algorithms including supervised, unsupervised, semi-supervised, transductive, and reinforcement learning. Experience manipulating and analyzing large data sets with existing technologies. Strong analytic, written, and verbal communication skills.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.  

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/ TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: 6-8 years of relevant work experience required.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Evening, holiday or weekend work is occasionally required. Some experiments may require work outside the normal work hours.

    BACKGROUND/SECURITY: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust and a Common Access Card (CAC).
