    Payroll Manager - Healthcare Sector

    A leading healthcare insurance provider is seeking a Payroll Manager to manage and lead their Payroll team. Working closely with the Director of Finance and the executive team, the Payroll Manager will not only lead the daily operations of the payroll team, but also oversee systems implementations, process improvements and the overall expansion of the Payroll department as the company continues to grow.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the payroll team, including the timely and accurate payment of team members salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
    • Review and approve work of payroll team, including journal entries, special compensation calculations, retirement contributions, etc.
    • Encourage payroll team cooperation and coordination with Human Resources regarding team members, payroll processing, payroll software and process improvement initiatives.
    • Facilitate and encourage team to initiate process improvements to operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency using LEAN principles.
    • Provide high-quality customer service to various units by responding to team member questions timely, expediting requests and minimizing payroll errors.
    • Understand all Payroll related systems to effectively support staff, resolve errors, answer questions, assist with research, request programming modifications, and analyze data.
    • Manage and develop a top-tier Payroll team
    • Lead research and implementation of new processing requirements such as multi-state payroll, new retirement plans, and conversion of all team members to electronic payments.
    • Analyze reports and accounts as needed.
    • Provide data and reports as requested by various auditing agencies.

     Qualifications

    • Bachelors in Business, Management, Accounting, Finance or related field. 10+ years of experience considered in lieu of degree
    • CPP strongly preffered
    • 7+ years of progressive corporate payroll experience
    • 3+ years of management/supervisors experience
    • Large ERP systems experience, including ADP and/or SAP 
    • Large corporate payroll experience, with employee count of 2000 + employees
    • Excellent management and communication skills
