    Job Description

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The HR Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing human resources expertise to the team in a specialized role focused on benefits. The HR Benefits Specialist manages and administers ISA’s employee benefit and compensation programs, from retirement plans and health insurance to life insurance and beyond. This position coordinates with and maintains vendor relationships for all benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc. Additionally, The HR Benefits Specialist is accountable for the accuracy, confidentiality, legality, and integrity for all their responsibilities. Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, performance management and practices related to retirement, insurance, injury compensation, and other employee benefits programs is necessary. Must be able to work closely with a dynamic team. Motivation for a growing company is necessary.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Primary owner and administrator of all company-offered benefits, to include compliance, review & analysis, and diligent record keeping
    • Responsible for employee benefits administration and compliance with Federal and State regulations, including timely filings.
    • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HR information system to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
    • Interprets and communicates effectively as a subject matter expert in HR policies and benefits to personnel and serves as the primary information source
    • Experienced in researching and recommending new benefits opportunities, as well as managing multiple plans and providers
    • Responds quickly and accurately to personnel to provide issue resolution
    • Partners closely with corporate to support strategic initiatives in support of business objectives
    • Handles all open season and new hire elections
    • Coordination with the healthcare broker to resolve any outstanding issues as needed
    • Coordination with corporate team on benefits offerings, providing recommendations on benefits package offerings
    • Serves as a resource to others to resolve complex benefits issues
    • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
    • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA
    • Assists in payroll functions such as preparation, verification, and auditing
    • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws as they pertain to health and welfare plans, pension plans, and payroll administration
    • Lead POC for compliance audits relating to HR matters
    • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
    • Ability to set priorities, establish processes and standards. A decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective
    • Works closely with HR team to support for company policies and personnel
    • Research, analyze and implement new policies and procedures in coordination with corporate staff
    • Focused on continuous improvement and innovative ways to improve the employee experience and speed of resolution
    • Works individually and with team to identify and eliminate barriers to accuracy, productivity, and quality
    • Self-motivated and detail-orientated
    • Solid understanding of US payroll and payroll tax laws is helpful
    • Good time management, with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
    • Must be able to deal with sensitive information in a discrete and professional manner.
    • Other duties as assigned

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Minimum of 2 years (4 years preferred) of experience in human resources, specifically benefits; Education and experience also considered
    • Working knowledge of ADP and Unanet Systems
    • Experience in a dynamic team environment
    • Must have a working knowledge of US federal and state laws for all states, including FMLA, Child Support, ACA, ADA, HIPAA, FLSA, IRS, OSHA, etc
    • Strong administrative experience including, but not limited to human resources, compliance, and customer service
    • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, with a required emphasis on the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.)

    EDUCATION:

    Associates degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education. (Bachelor’s degree preferred.)

    Two years’ experience in HR and/or benefits administration.

    CERTIFICATION:

    SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
