    POSITION: Transportation Service Monitor

    John Boner Neighborhood Centers (JBNC) is seeking a Transportation Service Monitor to play a vital role in maintaining discipline and monitoring students for safe transportation. As part of the JBNC team, you’ll be an essential part of improving the community of the Near Eastside of Indianapolis – and the lives of the people in it! 

    This is a part-time, Monday-Friday position (approximately 10-15 hours per week), including evening hours.

     HERE’S WHAT A DAY AS A TRANSPORTATION SERVICE MONITOR MIGHT LOOK LIKE: 

    • Assisting the bus driver in maintaining discipline, monitoring students, and assisting students while the school bus is in operation  

    • Working with bus driver to maintain student and other records

    • Assisting with student loading, unloading and seating arrangements

    • Observing and enforcing all laws and regulations about health and safety and the transportation of passengers

    • Maintaining knowledge of and supporting emergency procedures 

    • Adhering to a culture of respect, care and quality customer service

    • YOU WORK WELL WITH A VARIETY OF PEOPLE. You’ll be interacting with staff, partners and youth. You should have the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse individuals, including our community members, program partners, staff, and others. 

    • YOU ARE A PEOPLE PERSON WHO TRULY ENJOYS HELPING OTHERS. You are doing more than just monitoring youth on the bus. You are a role model and a supportive face of JBNC. It’s important that you have a sincere passion to communicate with and help others.

    THESE ARE THINGS WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM A TRANSPORTATION SERVICE MONITOR: 

    • A GED, high school diploma or equivalent

    • Demonstrated ability to operate a van or bus

    • Can relate to children

    • Ability to maintain records with little support
