OVERVIEW

We are a full-service law firm that has been representing clients in New York State courts for almost 19 years. Our law firm is located in a well-known, business-centric neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY known as Midwood that is just two blocks from the Q and B trains as well as various buses. Our firm practices matrimonial law, criminal defense, commercial litigation, and in trusts and estates on occasion. We are currently seeking to expand our business and are looking for a paralegal with strong credentials to perform daily legal operations. Accepted candidates are awarded a high learning curve as their job will require them to work exclusively with our leading attorney and clients on a daily basis. Pay is based on the candidate’s credentials and prior work experience/education.

• APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE EARNED A BACHELOR’S DEGREE FROM AN ACCREDITED UNITED STATES ACADEMIC INSTITUTION. YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE PRIORITIZED IF YOU ARE FLUENT IN RUSSIAN AND/OR IF YOU HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE E-FILING WITH NEW YORK COURTS.

THE PARALEGAL'S RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Drafting pleadings, motions and legal correspondence

• Preparing responses to discovery demands and assembling exhibits for court applications

• Maintaining clients’ office files

• Filing documents electronically with NY courts (e-filing)

• Completing uncontested divorce forms

• Legal research as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a US college degree in a related major

• Huge plus if fluent in Russian

• Work Authorization Status: Must be authorized to work in the United States, permanent lawful residents or US citizens are preferred

• Must be able to type quickly and accurately

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven Academic Excellence

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Effective oral and written communication

• Ability to think independently and work collaboratively

• Good communications skills

• Technological proficiency (MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

• Russian language fluency

• Experience with e-filing

• Preferred Major/Concentration: Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Forensic Science, Political Science, Economics, English, Literature/Writing
