    That colorful hotel in the desert, The Saguaro is a good time. It’s not that complicated. There’s plenty of sunshine, a buzzing pool scene and lots of local flavor. At the kinetic intersection where SoMa, Civic Center and Tenderloin converge, the LINE SF will endeavor to reflect the complex history, culture and spirit of the city by exploring the juxtaposition of 21st century technology and design with the urban grittiness of this historic neighborhood. The 236-room hotel will be home to four distinct dining experiences including a landscaped rooftop solarium which will enjoy panoramic views of the City. With conceptual design by the world-renowned architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and Handel Architects, the 12-story Flat Iron-inspired building is a contemporary interpretation of the area’s historic architecture. The project also includes 242 residences and a dedicated space for local non-profit theater company, Magic Theater.

    Job Overview

    We are searching for an experienced and dynamic General Manager (GM) to direct the day-to-day operations of the hotel. This includes, but is not limited to, the Front Office, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Administrative departments.

    Our ideal GM will have a warm, welcoming demeanor that exudes hospitality. You will passionately communicate the vision, direction, and purpose of all hotel and company initiatives. You will achieve and maintain superior financial results while inspiring and motivating your team to foster a guest-focused environment. You will develop and drive strategies and tactics that make a big impact, and actively seek out critical information on market trends, segment behavior, and other data to make informed decisions. You will create and promote learning opportunities and development plans for direct reports, with the aim of fostering a culture of development across the broader team.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities

    Administrative:

    1. Accountable for appropriate administration and controls involving hotel operations and bank accounts

    2. Develop a continuous five-year capital improvement plan for operations

    3. Implement and adhere to the LINE SF Standard Operating Procedures for all departments

    4. Serve as the liaison between your property, the Executive Team and Ownership

    5. Manage expenditures from the Annual Operating Budget and Capital Reserve Budget

    6. Initiate, implement, and analyze accounting procedures to include: labor forecasts, inventory procedures, financial forecasting, annual budgeting procedures, capital expenditures, payroll and month-end analysis

    Communication:

    1. Initiate and maintain effective positive communication between guests and employees

    2. Maintain an “Open Door” communication policy for employees and guests

    People:

    1. Responsible for interviewing, selecting, training, guiding, and managing team members

    2. Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues

    3. Maintain and monitor effective personnel relations in a supportive, confidential environment

    4. Administer and train on progressive discipline policies and procedures

    5. Responsible for performance evaluations and setting annual goals for the management team

    Operations:

    1. Ensure that all staff is delivering the levels of service in accordance with the LINE SF standard operating procedures

    2. Have a thorough understanding involving the maintenance of the property

    3. Ensure the maintenance of property exteriors / public spaces and conduct daily inspections

    4. Ensure the successful execution of all property events and local activations, as needed

    5. Oversee planning and pricing of all menu items

    6. Have a thorough understanding of services, amenities, and offerings

    7. Maintain current knowledge of all activities and events in the surrounding areas

    8. Responsible for reviewing, understanding, and following up on hotel guest needs

    9. Coordinate and monitor contract services to ensure performance and productivity involving special projects, daily maintenance of grounds, and guest rooms to meet guest expectations

    10. Oversee the weekly team schedules

    Knowledge, Requirements and Skills

    At least five (5) years’ experience as hotel General Manager or relevant position required

    Hotel opening experience preferred

    Extensive Food and Beverage Management experience preferred.

    Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)

    Ability to work with PMS and ATS software

    Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

    Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English Language

    Excellent organizational and time management skills

    Excellent attention to detail
