    Job Description

    SUMMARY  To protect the welfare of hotel guests and employees, as well as company assets.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS •    Responsible for the overnight operation of the security function which includes protection of guests and employees, their personal property, and all company property. •    Establish working relationships with local government police and sheriff agencies. •    Document all incidents regarding crime, subversions, and potential liability. •    Conduct themselves in an ethical and exemplary manner which encourages like manners of conduct. •    Assist the hotel staff in handling any guest or employee problems, such as disorderly individuals, suicides, bomb threats, employee or guest accidents, fire, safety hazards, robberies, employee dishonesty, civil disturbances, power failure, elevator failure, medical assistance, etc. •    Maintain and supervise the life and fire safety and security system, in addition to the video monitoring equipment. •    Treat with complete confidentiality any employee and guest related matters •    Prepare Incident Reports for any incidents occurring on evening or graveyard shifts and maintain central incident report file. Investigate incidents for guest or employee situations, but does not act without approval of General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Director of Human Resources or Guest Services Manager. •    Maintains key log book. Acts as the liaison with Engineering for issuing keys, but all new keys must have a signature of approval by the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. •    Maintain the Key Log Control Sheet and point out discrepancies to the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or the Guest Services Manager. •    Assist in the Overnight Room Service operation. •    Prepare a daily Security Log and distribute to involved managers. •    While on duty, make hourly rounds of the premises to ensure that doors are locked or unlocked as per schedule, especially the garage door at night. •    Complete nightly Engineering checks as outlined by the Engineering Department. •    Make responsible manager aware of guest's comments and complaints, and complete guest comment sheets and leave with Assistant General Manager •    Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner as outlined in the employee handbook. •    Report to shift on time. •    Comply with all policies and procedures for the Security Department, The Little Nell, and Aspen Skiing Company. •    Is familiar with hotel fire and safety procedures. Coordinate emergency and security procedures in cooperation with management. •    Complete tasks and projects delegated by the manager and assist other departments as business volumes ad staff levels demand.

    •    Police background preferred •    College degree/ high school diploma •    3-4 years previous security experience

    SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED  Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.  Received: Works under direct supervision of the Director of Rooms. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS  •    Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required •    Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces   •    Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
