    Job Description

    SUMMARY  The Rooms Division Intern will participate in partnership with their University’s internship program and The Little Nell with an objective to enhance  their hotel operations knowledge. The student will gain an overall understanding of the property through training and exposure. Depending upon individual initiative, previous work experience and business demands, each student will be assigned to a position within one of the Rooms departments. The Little Nell Rooms Division is made up of the following departments: Housekeeping, Guest Services, Front Office, In Room Dining.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS •    The Intern/Extern reports directly to the Manager of the department assigned, through the use of the school evaluation form, as well as, a hotel performance evaluation to evaluate performance •    Available positions depend upon the business demand, the Intern/Externs initiative & performance •    Must comply with all policies and procedures for the Rooms Division, The Little Nell, and Aspen Skiing Company •    The Intern/Extern must be flexible to work overtime hours, possibly in other Rooms Division departments when business demands •    Must maintain work area cleanliness throughout shift and clean work area at shifts end •    Must report to the shift on time •    Must maintain a professional grooming standard •    Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision •    The hotel also provides uniforms and a cleaning service. Every new employee must complete a 6-hour orientation program

    •    To participate in this program a student must be seeking an internship/externship as required by a University for class credit towards their degree  •    The student must have at least 6 months of Hospitality experience •    Good people skills with people of all ages •    Ability to deal with a diversity of individuals •    Interns/Externs need to arrange housing through HR & Talent Acquisition, employee housing is provided on a first come first serve basis

    SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED  Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.  Received: Works under direct supervision of the Department Manager. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS  •    Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, smell, taste, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time •    Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces  •    Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
