The Maine Criminal Defense Group is seeking a dedicated and passionate Criminal Attorney to join our team in Kennebunk, ME. Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the Attorney is to personally manage and litigate a portfolio of wide-ranging criminal matters at The Maine Criminal Defense Group (MCDG), including but not limited to a wide range of low and mid-level misdemeanors (shoplifting, OUI, title 12 crimes, DVA) along with some mid to high level felonies. Primary caseload will be focused on misdemeanor level crimes while Attorney obtains skillset, experience, and confidence necessary to handle more serious and high stakes criminal matters. Litigation includes but is not limited to attending court hearings such as motions to modify bail, motions to suppress evidence, appearances, etc; providing legal advice to clients; conducting bench and jury trials as either first or second chair, depending on the attorney’s experience level. Qualifications: • Possess a J.D. degree; be an active member in good standing of the Maine bar. • A minimum of 18 months – 3+ years of post-J.D. experience and demonstrated excellence and commitment to defending the criminally accused. Federal prosecutorial experience is a plus. • Demonstrated analytical ability, good judgment, and excellent communication and courtroom skills. • Computer literacy and the ability to handle all aspects of electronic discovery and litigation. • Ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff and client agencies. • A positive attitude, a sense of humor, and an interest in growing with the firm. • United States citizenship is required.
