    Middle School Science Teacher, Grades 6-8 Job Description The science teacher will have experience in teaching middle school science, excellent classroom management skills, and experience working with middle school students. The science teacher will provide instruction for our middle school students by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials. The science teacher will provide a learning environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. The science teacher will work with the Middle School Team to track student progress and develop and implement plans to improve student performance. The Midtown Academy is aligned with the Expeditionary Learning Core Practice Benchmarks. Our science teachers will organize curriculum into learning investigations which use compelling topics to motivate students to construct deep understandings and skills and create authentic products. Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: Plan, prepare, and present lesson plans, assignments, instructional materials, and assessments to students. Design, implement, and evaluate investigations as the primary means of organizing curriculum. Investigations must align with district and state standards. Employ a range of effective instructional practices to meet the needs of all students. Provides students and families clear and instructive information about student progress and development. Collaborate with peers to develop curriculum and team structures. Establish, model, and enforce school policies, procedures and rules. Model and promote the Midtown Middle School 5 Promises. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policies, and school policies. Participate in quarterly student-led conferences. Establish an excellent professional relationship with each student and parent. Model the professional language, demeanor, and interactions that are expected of each student and staff member at all times. Supervise common areas as needed. Display current student work in hallways Plan, facilitate, and advise a middle school leadership seminar (CREW) Candidates must hold a current Maryland Teaching Certificate and be certified to teach Grades 6-8 Science.
