LAW CLERK

PUBLIC TRUST REQUIRED (having one currently is a huge plus)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
• Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc. reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
MORE SPECIFICALLY: LAW CLERK I:
• Provide coordination, logistical and legal support to the ECS Victim-Witness Coordinator, ECS attorneys and staff in relation to the Victims’ Rights and Restitution Act (VRRA),
• Assist with victim identification, case tracking and status reporting
• Serve as an VRRA/CVRA information and program resource for victims, state, federal, territorial, tribal, and local law enforcement
• Provide victim notification of court proceedings, available services and rights under the VRRA/CVRA • Prepare victim impact statements
• Entering and assuring required information within Victim Notification System (VNS) Data Management System and agency case management systems
• Produce informational aids for attorney and law enforcement training on victim issues under the CVRA
• Provide coordination, logistical and legal support to the EPA National Victim-Witness Coordinator, EPA-CID agents, and EPA attorneys (EPA Criminal Staff) in relation to the VRRA and CVRA
• Assist with victim identification, case tracking and status reporting
• Serve as an VRRA/CVRA information and program resource for victims, state, federal, territorial, tribal, and local law enforcement
• Provide victim notification of court proceedings, available services and rights under the VRRA/CVRA
• Assist administration of the EPA-CID emergency victim assistance fund
• Entering and assuring required information within Victim Notification System (VNS) Data Management System and agency case management systems
• Produce informational aids for attorney and law enforcement training on victim issues under the CVRA
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
• Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
• Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
• Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
• Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
• Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Public Trust Clearance
• Must be a U.S. Citizen DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Currently have a favorably adjudicated Public Trust Clearance, preferred Deliverables:
• Resume in Word version (not PDF) with no less than 1” margins and 10 point font; 2-page limit
• Make sure resume clearly states software expertise (i.e., Relativity, iPro, CaseMap, Trial Director, Concordance, etc.), as well as any certifications
• Clearly state if you are submitting only as a permanent placement vs temp-to-perm; pricing for permanent placements will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
