    Job Description

    There is currently a vacancy in the Technology team for the post of Imaging Engineering at The Mill. The role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology, and specialist digital media colleagues.

    Reporting to the Head of Technology, the Imaging Engineer is responsible for ensuring color accuracy and consistency through all the pipelines deployed at the VFX facilities in the East Coast including but not limited to the DI and longform work in the Color department and the whole Advertising and Film VFX pipelines.

    Overview

    This is a varied role supporting The Mill’s color pipeline and delivering solutions for a range of color management and imaging issues.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Mentoring the local teams on color pipelines.
    • Client facing duties including attending meetings with clients to discuss show specific color management requirements, address problems and design solutions
    • Look after color management issues as part of the global imaging team
    • Implement color pipelines for all projects
    • Deal with a range of color space conversions
    • Maintain various software tools used by the department
    • Manage and carry out projector and monitor calibrations
    • Support the operation of color and screening rooms
    • Evaluate new display technologies
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Technical Knowledge/Skills:

    • Deep Knowledge of color science including color spaces, matrix operations, lookup tables and use of instrumentation
    • Desired Experience with color managing VFX applications including Nuke, RV, Photoshop, Katana, Silhouette, Maya, Houdini.
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with color grading platforms, Baselight, Resolve, etc.
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with calibration procedure (monitors and projectors)
    • Familiarity with differing display technologies
    • Linux knowledge desired
    • Experience with video engineering, scripting and python is an asset
    • Familiarity with video streaming is a plus

    Experience:

    Proven experience in video engineering or color management in the Advertising and Film industries

    Additional Information

    The pay range for this full-time staff position is: $90,000-$125,000 which is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
