Job Description

The Morning Star Company is in search of an emerging leader in the food science and quality areas. The Mission of this position is to develop and document processes to accurately and timely represent the quality of our products, and to assist sales colleagues and customers in solving problems and meeting their requirements.

Specific responsibilities include: 

• Work with food technicians, production, researchers, safety and administration on performance issues,  procedures, and policies to ensure consistency.
• Responsible for monitoring quality control procedures.
• Responsible for monitoring food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Responsible for performing sanitation verification and other biological testing on equipment and food processing surfaces.
• Responsible for the correct recording and filing of records and documentation.
• Ensure co-workers and workers are following all Food Safety and worker safety practices.
• Ensures and educates workers on food safety and GFSI standards.
• Responsible for FDA, Third Party GFSI and customer audits.

Qualifications

A meaningful education in mission-related disciplines is preferred. BS in Food Science or related science degree, microbiology, biology, chemistry, environmental sciences. In addition, some additional training is beneficial, but not required, such as HACCP training and FSMA PCQI. 

Other qualifications: 

• Self-motivated and self-managed with proven leadership skills.
• Proficient in most common computer applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Oracle, and Acrobat.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Prior experience in food environment a plus.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish is beneficial, but not required.
• Must have a positive attitude.
• Must be assertive and do what is right all the time.
• Must have good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Flexible availability; work nights and weekends during the production season.
