We are an expanding law firm serving Maryland and the District of Columbia and are currently on the lookout for a certified Family Law Litigation Paralegal to join our team. In this position, you will handle not only standard legal document preparation but also tackle advanced non-routine drafting tasks. This will involve creating non-routine documents like modifications and contempt exceptions from the ground up. Furthermore, you will be responsible for assembling trial binders and engaging in substantive billable legal work under the supervision of our founding and managing attorney. Our aim is to have our paralegals support attorneys with a range of legal practice tasks. Responsibilities: • Prepare trial binders and organize them efficiently. • Monitor and manage tasks in the case management system, MyCase. • Schedule upcoming tasks and ensure they are completed on time. • Fill out legal forms accurately and promptly. • Compose letters and other court pleadings effectively. • Adapt and assemble standard documents as needed. • Draft reports and other legal paperwork, both simple and complex. • Assist the attorney in preparing for hearings and mediations. • Compile trial and mediation notebooks. • Communicate with clients to provide updates and gather necessary information. • Draft proposed orders, settlement agreements, and parenting plans. • Create motions in accordance with legal requirements. • Prepare solutions to discovery requests and respond to them appropriately. • Act as a substitute phone receptionist when required. • Ensure that trial preparation commences on schedule. • Verify that the attorney has all the necessary documents for court appearances. • Identify and propose solutions to issues such as discovery discrepancies. • Handle calendar conflicts efficiently. • Perform any other assigned duties. • This is a hybrid position that typically requires 35-40 hours per week. Qualifications: • Must have a minimum of three to five years of experience as a family law paralegal (non-negotiable). • Extensive knowledge and expertise in legal drafting and processes. • Proficient in trial binder preparation. • Possession of a paralegal certificate or an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies. • Diligent and proactive in advancing cases. • Excellent decision-making skills and capabilities. • Detail-oriented and meticulous. • Strong multitasking abilities. • Self-motivated and driven. • Patient and adaptable. • Willingness to learn new software applications. • Familiarity with Google Drive and G-Suite products. • Previous experience in family law is required. • Estate planning experience is highly desired. • Experience with MyCase (case management system) is highly desired. • Maryland and DC experience is highly desired but not required. Compensation: $41,600 - $45,760 yearly
