Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30am-12:30pm (two land-based classes)
The Instructor educates and leads participants in group fitness classes with a focus towards assisting them in achieving their fitness goals in a safe and friendly manner. The Instructor ensures the safe instruction of each class. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Demonstrates proper and safe use of equipment
- Pays constant attention to fitness level and age group of class and teaches accordingly
- Exhibits professionalism when dealing with class participants, facility members, and staff
- Limits securing a substitute to an average of once a month
- Maintains attendance records for each class per the direction of the Fitness Center manager.
- Projects enthusiasm, motivation, a positive personality and a willingness to help internal and external customers
- Uses appropriate format for every class; adds variety to classes
- Demonstrates work ethic, ingenuity, customer care, and attention to detail
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current Group Fitness Certification and/or post-high school education which demonstrates appropriate knowledge base for safely teaching group exercise classes
- Current CPR & First Aid certification required
- Trained in Universal Precautions annually (provided by NIFS)
- May, at any time, be required to pass a background check and TB skin test
