    Job Description

    The News Literacy Project (NLP) is seeking an education marketing manager. There is intense public interest in NLP’s work, and we are experiencing tremendous growth. Our vision is to have news literacy embedded in the American education experience, and for people of all ages and backgrounds to know how to identify credible news and other information, empowering them to have an equal opportunity to participate in the civic life of their communities and the country.

    NLP is looking for a talented individual to develop and execute marketing strategies to help us meet our goals and expand our educator network. This is a great opportunity for you to be a key member on the team driving the go-to-market with unique, differentiated messaging delivered across a range of marketing tactics. You will use both analytical and qualitative insights to help develop and prioritize overarching marketing strategies that will be implemented across multiple channels including email, conferences, display advertising, messaging, and website experience.

    The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of the following qualifications:

    ·         Bachelor’s degree in marketing or equivalent experience.

    ·         Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills.

    ·         A customer-centric view, with the ability to translate customer insights into strategies and executions.

    ·         Ability to build and maintain strong internal relationships with key stakeholders in order to collaborate and drive the overall expansion efforts of NLP.

    ·         Strong understanding of customer marketing and personalized messaging strategies.

    ·         Ability to draw out insights and make data-driven decisions with a “test and learn” mindset.

    ·         Experience with foundational functions of Microsoft Excel; advanced proficiency a plus.

    ·         Experience in education marketing is a plus.

    This position reports to the director of educator network expansion.

     ABOUT NLP

    Founded in 2008, the News Literacy Project is a national nonpartisan education nonprofit

    that empowers educators to teach middle and high school students how to sort fact from fiction in the digital age. Our central offering is the Checkology® virtual classroom, an online e- learning hub. Since the platform was introduced in 2016, almost 35,000 teachers have registered to use it in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, four U.S. territories and 113 other countries.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The education marketing manager will support the promotion of NLP’s educator resources, as well as conferences and promotional events. This position will be tasked with developing and executing multi-channel campaigns geared at generating web traffic, growing NLP educator user base and resource usage, and  communicating the NLP mission to educators and community members nationwide.

    In this job, you will:

    ·         Define, create and implement the long-term strategy for education network marketing.

    ·         Serve as a thought leader for digital marketing within the educator network.

    ·         Work in collaboration with the director of educator network expansion to build and maintain a robust marketing calendar and communications schedule.

    ·         Generate ideas and draft strategy for multi-channel marketing campaigns to launch new educator resources, promote key partnerships, drive NLP educator event registrations, and increase the visibility of advocacy efforts.

    ·         Measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against organizational goals.

    ·         Assist in registration and logistical support at conferences.

    ·         Design, in collaboration with the creative services team, core materials (pitch decks, one-pagers, talking points) in support of others sharing NLP’s values and educator resources.

    ·         Collaborate with the communications team and the manager of social media in marketing efforts for brand channels:

    •         Partner with other internal teams on the creation of email marketing content, scheduling and overall CRM strategy.

    •         Support the creation of marketing-focused assets, occasionally providing copy and content direction to website and technical teams.

    •         Develop content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media channels.

    •         Monitor relevant hashtags, trends, and conversations, performing expansion management duties as needed.

    •         Design, execute, and report on paid advertising campaigns on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

    ·         This position requires occasional travel for conferences, expansion events and biannual staff retreats (15%).

    This position is virtual. The successful candidate can live anywhere in the United States.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    The salary band for this position starts between $55K and $60K per year and is based on experience and qualifications. NLP offers outstanding benefits, including health and dental insurance, a 401(k) match plan, generous paid time off and an annual bonus structure.
