Responsibilities: • Create new physical and electronic case files and ensure that the files remain organized and updated • Scan and upload documents to the firm's case management system • Interact with the attorneys, courts, and administrative agencies regarding current cases on a daily basis • Communicate with clients keeping them abreast of new updates • File and serve forms and documents (in person, electronically, by mail) and submit appropriate proofs of service • Maintain a spreadsheet of county requirements for filing and serving • Maintain the office calendar, and schedule appointments being sure to avoid scheduling conflicts • Draft basic legal forms and documents for attorney review and editing • Assist the attorneys with preparing files for court and maintaining client case files • Answer incoming calls and place outgoing calls to clients, potential new clients, and various agencies • Show up on time with a positive attitude and go-getter mindset • Quickly and efficiently move tasks through the pipeline Qualifications: • A minimum of 1-year experience in a criminal law office and familiarity with legal terminology and judicial council forms are REQUIRED • You must be dependable, punctual, computer literate, a fast typist, and have a great attitude • You must have excellent communication skills orally and in writing • You must pay strict attention to detail • You must manage your time well and complete projects within the assigned deadlines • Exhibit the highest level of dependability when it comes to tracking and meeting deadlines • The ideal candidate must be proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Lexis Nexis, and Mac Operating Systems • Experience with online case management systems or client relationship management systems is preferred • This position requires a high school diploma and some college or vocational training plus hands-on experience • SPANISH SPEAKING REQUIRED Compensation: $16.50 - $18.50 hourly
