    Job Description

    Provides technical support for continuing operations focusing on areas of production efficiencies, safe operations and reliable manufacturing systems. Plan, organize and direct engineering activities to meet new process or production development objectives, increased capacity requirements, and improvement of existing equipment and productions lines, from design through installation and startup of new or improved equipment, systems and facility improvements.   Provide leadership and guidance to ensure effective team development capably of meeting company initiatives and goals.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    DELIVER CAPITAL PROJECTS THAT DRIVE ORGANIZATIONAL CAPABILITIES. 

    • Develop and manage project plans – identify necessary resources to complete project, generate project plan and phases, obtain and review bids from contractors, determine and assign resources and participants needed to achieve project goal, map out timeline and budget.
    • Provide technical knowledge and evaluation of the project layout and specifications, including prints, designs, drawings, specifications, tooling and process maintenance necessary to support new or improved facilities and equipment and human resource requirements.
    • Effectively communicate project expectations and project updates to affected internal customers and other stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
    • Manage project resources, track project milestones and deliverables; monitor and evaluate performance of contractors, vendors, suppliers, ensure tasks are completed on time, within budget and with high level of quality; utilize progress reports and staff conferences to monitor and communicate progress.
    • Develop, prepare, and present project status reports and presentations.  Collect, analyze and summarize information trends.  Propose actions based on data, assessment and input from team.
    • Complete project close-out deliverables, conduct project evaluation/assessment on completed projects to identify areas of success and areas that did not meet desired outcomes.   Create a recommendations report to address outstanding issues.
    • Manage the capital budget for the site including setting budget, defining annual plans, trending costs, explaining variances.
    • Enforce company design standards and project management procedures.  Provide direction and oversite for all capitol and maintenance projects. 
    • Provide technical resourcing and expertise to achieve optimum performance of production processes.

    DRIVE PROCESS OPTIMIZATION

    • Recommend methods, materials, and layouts for improvement based on manufacturing needs and capabilities; team with internal customers to ensure support and input.
    • Review and analyze proposals to determine if benefits derived justify expenditure; ensure accurate costing of projects and provide overall management of departmental budget.

    PROACTIVELY LEAD PROJECT TEAMS AND ENGINEERING STAFF

    • Provide leadership for departmental employees through effective communication, coaching, training and development. Define future state, set departmental goals for engineering and maintenance, and communicate goals with staff, gain support and commitment.
    • Act as model of Blommer’s core values in the treatment of employees and customers.
    • Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to staff regarding performance against goals/expectations.
    • Ensure work is conducted following all safety and quality policies and procedures; ensure adherence to Blommer policies and procedures.
    • Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members, contractors and staff to ensure they are actively engaged in the project and maintaining accountability for their assigned work. 
    • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team, monitor project progress, resolve issues and update/modify project deliverables as necessary.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:  Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering – Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical
    • EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:   Ten years’ experience in a 24/7 MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT; UNDERSTANDING OF UTILITY, ELECTRICAL, REFRIGERATION, CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION EXPERIENCE; work in the food industry preferred. 
    • CERTIFICATIONS: Six Sigma Yellow Belt
    • LICENSES: PE License Preferred
    • SOFTWARE SKILLS: Proficient in current computer software – Microsoft Office, MS Project; AutoCAD preferred
    • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to climb ladder, bend, stoop, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
    • WORK CONDITIONS: Work in the general office area and production.  Occasionally exposed to heat, cold, noise, dust.   Requires extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, and sitting. 
    • OTHER SKILLS: Read and interpret engineering and architectural plans and schematics

    May require work on alternate shifts, evenings, weekends.
