    Job Description

    The Manufacturing Engineer's responsibilities revolve around the managing of our manufacturing processes. This position utilizes analytical, collaborative, and creative skills to identify and capitalize on opportunities for improvement and/or developing new processes in support of new product development. Improvement may come from the reduction or elimination of process waste which may include scrap, overproduction, waiting, transportation, inventory, motion, extra processing, or under-utilized potential. New processes are developed in a manner to proactively prevent waste. The successful Manufacturing Engineer makes strong use of data to form decisions and recommendations consistent with Lean Six Sigma philosophy. As new technology plays an important role in manufacturing, the position stays current on new technology and its potential use in the workplace. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design and implement process improvement strategies utilizing Lean Six Sigma philosophy.

    • Lead cross-functional process improvement team meetings to execute improvement projects and/or new process developments.

    • Report regularly to management team on status of projects. Maintain appropriate documentation including project plans, updates, and final reports.

    • Leverage technology as appropriate in the development or re-development of processes

    • Design and develop tooling or fixturing necessary to manufacture product

    • Conduct DOEs and/or Process Capability studies to support achieving objectives.

    • Ensure processes conform to current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other applicable regulatory standards.

    • Engage with partners throughout the organization in all phases of improvement and process development work.

    • Develop strong technical network with facility resources.   

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics required.

    • Completion of a Green Belt level Six Sigma training course required. Black belt preferred.

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in process improvement in a manufacturing environment utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.

    • Experience leading cross-functional teams towards process improvements required.   Proficiency in using the personal computer, including Windows-based applications.

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Applications.

    • Ability to use analytical tools such as MiniTab

    • Ability to use CAD software such as SolidWorks

    • Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar inventory control system a plus
