JOB SUMMARY:

The Plant Human Resources Manager maintains and enhances the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Develop, maintain, communicate, and administer hourly and salaried HR policies and procedures.

·       Promote involvement and participation in business activities throughout our organization.  Be aware of employee concerns and problems, and the “pulse” of the organization.

·       Develop and administer training programs.

·       Administer benefit and insurance programs.

·       Actively work toward a safer organization and ensure compliance with all OSHA requirements. Direct safety program within the plant.

·       Ensure legal requirements are met in human resources related areas.

·       Maintain hourly and salaried records and files.

·       Ensure counseling and discipline are handled consistently.  Ensure managers know how to administer counseling/discipline and maintain records.

·       Work with plant supervisors on the administration of performance evaluations.

·       Manage recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new employees.

·       Oversee the handling of grievances filed by the union through the proper steps.

·       Interpret and administer contract language consistently.

·       Act as a liaison between management and the union.

·       Provide direct supervision of the Plant Human Resources Administrator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·       Basic knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws.

·       Excellent communication and public speaking skills.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

·       Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline and five (5) years’ management experience.

·       Experience in a union, manufacturing environment preferred.
