    Job Description

    Reporting to the Director of Summer and Auxiliary Programs, the Junior Adventurer Camp Lead Instructor will be responsible for all aspects of developing and delivering a successful one-week Junior Adventurer camp program as outlined in the camp description (listed below) for children ages 6 to 9. Instruction will include teaching different adventure-style activities off and around campus that are designed to meet campers' level and ability.

    Camp Description: Our Junior Adventurer camp is a modified version of our popular outdoor adventure camp. We will explore different adventure-style activities off and around campus that are designed to meet campers' level and ability. Activities may include:

    • Stand-up paddle boarding in the Pennington pool
    • Bike riding safety and riding local bike trails
    • High and low ropes courses
    • Hiking
    • Shelter building
    • Team-building activities
    • Raft building at the Pennington pool
    • Orienteering
    • Exploring nature

    In addition to the general duties and responsibilities listed above, additional requirements for the Lead Instructor role include, but are not limited to:

    • In collaboration with the Director of Summer and Auxiliary Programs, develop camp-specific plans for the camp, (to be approved one month before the start date of the camp)
    • Program planning and development
    • Teaching
    • Group management
    • Resource selection
    • Supervision of support staff, where necessary
    • Problem-solving
    • Supervision of campers

    This opportunity offers the ideal candidate the flexibility to collaborate, create content and deliver a truly exceptional camper experience under the guidance and direction of the Director of Summer and Auxiliary Programs.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Current college experience at a minimum; undergraduate or advanced degree is preferred
    • Prior experience working with children
    • Prior experience with camp or youth programs
    • Strong interest in creating, developing, and growing a one-week camp program and curriculum with prior content experience
