Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our Finance team in Houston, Texas. As a Senior Tax Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the company's tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and optimizing tax strategies to support their business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and international tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact, and recommend appropriate actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Accounting, Legal, and Operations, to ensure alignment on tax matters and optimize financial outcomes.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and government agencies, representing their interests effectively.
- Lead tax audits and inquiries, preparing responses and supporting documentation as needed.
- Provide guidance and training to junior tax team members, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
- Support special projects and initiatives related to tax optimization, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree (MST, JD) preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in tax accounting and compliance, with a focus on multinational corporations or public accounting firms serving corporate clients.
- Big 4 Accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US and international tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles.
- Experience with tax planning strategies, transfer pricing, and M&A transactions preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
