    BUYER

    Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with good communication skills and would be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    • Develop and investigate new sources of supply, make effective recommendations as to their approval and leading/championing source decisions.
    • Negotiates purchase agreements and contracts with vendors for equipment, raw materials, parts and services to achieve best value, including cost, quality and terms. Continuously finds ways to lower costs of purchased components.
    • Work with Corporate Supplier Quality Manager to develop existing suppliers and new suppliers based on commodity strategies.
    • Identify cost savings opportunities for commodities, develop and execute to meet or exceed annual targets.
    • Audits and qualifies vendors to be certified suppliers to Thermotech. Monitors vendor performance and ensures corrective actions are undertaken as necessary.
    • Selects vendors for sourced components on new programs, including inserts and stamping. Uses global sources where possible to achieve the best result.
    • Maintain effective liaison with all departments concerned to present, alternatives offered by supplier's modification of design, standardization of parts or materials.
    • Develops reports to monitor the health and effectiveness of purchasing systems.
    • Stays current on world-class principles of supply chain management.
    • Assists in keeping inventories at low levels through effective purchasing methodologies and use of consignment inventory for both Hopkins. Insures that excess and obsolete inventory levels remain low.
    • Finds ways to continuously lower the fixed and variable costs of purchasing through efficiency improvements.
    • Run MRP and ensure plant is buying sufficient materials to maintain production schedules.
    • Support IATF and ISO audits schedule as purchasing resource when needed
    • Ensure supplier sub-contractor requirement acceptance is completed for any new suppliers

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

    MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum five or more years experience in purchasing, preferably in plastic manufacturing or closely related industry.
    • Computer skills to include experience in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
    • Strong Organizational Skills
    • Strong Time Management Skills
    • Excellent verbal, written communication skills
    • Ability to perform well and demonstrate adaptability in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to maintain confidential information and exercise discretion
    • Ability to work effectively as a member of team

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Understanding of expectations detailed through Organization Statements, Standards, Visions, Policies and Procedures (i.e. Mission, Values, Code of Conduct, Operational, Quality, and Environmental Health & Safety) as referenced in Employee Handbooks and communicated through Orientation and/or other training awareness opportunities

    • Additional training requirements may be identified based on plant-specific location (municipality/province/state/country) and/or operational needs that are commensurate with the duties, expectations and responsibilities of the role within the specific plant

    • Ability to perform well in high pressure situations

    • Possess sound financial and business insights

    • Meets expectation rating (rating score of 2 or 3) in all applicable Competencies as defined in the Performance Management Process.

    • Capable of independent travel to, from and within designated regions

    • Access to reliable transportation

    • Must be capable of performing the essential duties which include maximum safe lifts to the 75th percentile of the employee as determined by acceptable standards

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus
