    Job Description

    Our client, a rapidly growing, top tier wealth management and financial planning practice based in the San Diego area is looking to hire a Director of Financial Planning and Investments. The ideal candidate will have a passion for both financial planning and investments, have an impeccable work ethic and have a team player attitude that can handle a fast paced culture. Above all, the right candidate should care about positively impacting the clients of the practice.

    Responsibilities:

    • To create comprehensive financial plans for new clients. This includes both working collaboratively with the Wealth Management Advisor and current team members in addition to having your own aligned thinking to best construct a customized financial plan for a new client.

    •  

    • The Director of Financial Planning will also be responsible for investment strategy, recommendations and operations within the practice. This would include :

      • creating investment takeover proposals,
      • conducting research (morning star),
      • creating executive summaries and talking points on client accounts
      • monitoring and trading accounts
      • onboarding new investment clients
    • The Director of Financial Planning would interpret client data, understand time-lined goals and feelings and synchronize the right written or digital plan that may include but limited to:

    • Investments

    • Retirement Planning

    • Retirement Income Distribution Planning

    • Estate Planning Concepts

    • Life insurance analysis

    • Disability and Long Term Care insurance analysis

    • Asset/Liability management and cash flow scenarios

    • Tax implications

    • Education Funding

    • Major Purchase Planning

    • Saving Strategies

    • Business Planning

    • The Director of Financial Planning will be responsible for updating financial plans for the existing client base as well. This would include staying in tune to relevant client goals and current economic and market conditions to provide the most prepared analysis and recommendations for the client.

    • The Director of Financial Planning will both ensure the Wealth Management Advisor is briefed on planning updates prior to meetings along with being able to interface with clients themselves to best explain analysis and recommendations in their situation. It is important for the director of financial planning to both understand how to read and input variables in a financial scenario along with being able to effectively communicate the output and recommendations of a plan to a client.

    • Other tasks may include:

    • Providing planning insights to the WMA and team members

    • Ensuring all client interactions are up to date in CRM system

    • Researching current regulations, tax law changes and other pertinent industry information to stay ahead of changes that can affect clients

     

     

    Comp will depend on Qualifications:

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 5+ -15 years of investment financial planning experience
    • Series 7 and 66
    • Life, Accident and Health State Insurance License
    • CFP designation (or working towards it)
    • Experience with financial planning software
    • Experience with client interactions
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Passion and deep knowledge of the planning process and industry
    • Team player looking to make an impact on clients and in a practice
