SMASH is actively seeking a full time journalistic content writer for our team. This position would be ideal for some that is super passionate about interviewing and writing articles. This position is primarily writing educational pieces that are distributed on the knowledge base of our website, helping entrepreneurs improves of areas of their business.
Role (overview):
This position will be responsible for interviewing subject matter experts and writing articles speaking to our audience across various social media and web-based platforms relating to the construction, roofing, and renovation industries.
Responsibilities - Daily, Weekly, Monthly:
- Create content in line with the voice of the SMASH brand
- Develop related content for multiple platforms, primarily our websites and blog (knowledge base)
- Produce well-researched content for publication online possible in print
- Organize writing schedules to complete drafts of content or finished projects within
deadline - Communicate and cooperate with the entire content team, including a content manager, copy writers, and web masters
- Follow an editorial calendar, collaborating with other members of the content
production team to ensure timely delivery of material - Incorporate keywords for search engine optimization (SEO) strategies into writing assignments to maximize the online visibility of a website in search results
Requirements and Proficiencies:
- Proven record of excellent writing, providing examples or a portfolio
- Impeccable grasp of the English language, including idioms and current trends in slang
and expression - Ability to work independently with little or no daily supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to communicate with clients, colleagues, and
management - Ability to work on multiple projects with different objectives simultaneously
- Strict adherence to the style guides of each company and their policies for publication
- Good time management skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as
necessary - Proficiency with computers, especially writing programs, such as Google Docs and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- A proven track record for writing SEO specific content is a bonus
- Experience writing blog style articles
- Experience with developing social media content is a bonus
- Possess a solid grasp of keyword research fundamentals
- Strong verbal communications skills
- Ability to meet deadlines while simultaneously working on multiple projects
- Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field
Results Required:
- 3-4 articles containing 900-1,000 each, per week to publish
- Complete assigned project within deadline
