    SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    The Accounting Analyst will assist the Accounting Manager with the fiscal management of certain Corps locations of the EMPIRE State Division. They will be responsible for the

    oversight of day-to-day accounting transactional processing for their respective locations as well as ensuring the integrity of accounting information and financial records.

    The Accounting Analyst will also assist the Assistant Director of Finance (ADF) in the completion of budgets, monthly financial analysis and the preparation of annual tax calculations for officers employed by The Salvation Army.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Reviewing and approving invoice coding from the field
    • Complete balance sheet and other grant related reconciliations
    • Calculate and input monthly support service, world services, and harvest festival expense
    • Prepare, review, and analyze month end financial statements and investigate / explain large variances to budget and prior year.
    • Year-end financial preparation
    • Assist the ADF with grant funding budgets and reporting.
    • Assist FS & ADF with Officer Tax Grant process
    • Assist ADF with budget creation and review process for all units
    • Assist ADF with grant/contract budget creation and monthly/annual financial review process for all units.

    SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS .

    · Prior experience in a not-for-profit finance environment preferred.

    · 3-5 years of related work experience required.

    · Working knowledge of organizational accounting software.

    · Must be proficient in the development and creation of financial reports.

    · Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

    · Good written, oral and presentation skills.

    · Must be able to teach and give constructive guidance.

    · Must have valid Driver’s License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
