    Job Description

    The Seattle Times, the Pulitzer Prize-winning multimedia company, is actively seeking a qualified SALESFORCE DEVELOPER to join our IT Service Delivery team. On this team, you will configure and continuously enhance customized software applications. You will be expected to automate processes, services, and their integrations to maximize utility (and cost saving) for our business and customers. Ideally, you would be comfortable leading projects while troubleshooting and debugging applications and services. While you will work under the general guidance of the Sr. Applications Development Manager, you will work in tandem with an agile team to deliver commitments to our business partners, especially as it relates to our use of Salesforce. 

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collaborate with team in solving problems and document issues and solutions utilizing agile practices and tools.
    • Manage Salesforce business needs including administration and support requests, configuration of existing Salesforce features, regular analysis for efficiency, and implementation of new features. 
    • Contribute to propose new approaches, methods, or technologies to meet ever changing business needs and implement cost-saving improvements.
    • Create and maintain technical functional and non-functional specifications, diagrams etc. utilizing existing tools.
    • Implement new programs or systems including version control, scheduling, documentation, and training assistance.
    • On-call support of mission critical systems.
    • Code/Configure easy to moderately to complex solutions that are efficient, maintainable and documented.
    • Support other analysts by suggesting or applying various technical solutions based on specialized technical knowledge.  Presents both technical and non-technical solutions.
    • Regularly analyzes systems, processes, and performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Advise team of updates/upgrades of existing applications, databases, services, integration, etc. and coordinate upgrade work based upon business need.
    • Code/Configure moderately to complex solutions that are efficient, maintainable and documented.
    • Test work of peers and coordinate peers to test your work.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • EXPERIENCE: At least three years of related work experience in application development or three years of systems analysis with at least two years of application development experience.
    • EDUCATION: Four-year degree or equivalent demonstrated work experience.
    • Proven ability to lead Salesforce administration efforts as the resident subject-matter expert. 
    • Strong SQL skills & Reporting proficiency.
    • Ability to provide on-call support of mission critical systems.
    • Ability to address complex problems as a critical thinker.
    • Communication skills that prove an orientation to teamwork in agile environment.

     

    PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

    Applicants should have some working familiarity with some or all of the following:

    • Languages: SQL, C#, Visual Basic
    • Web Languages: HTML, XML, XLST, SOAP, REST, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX
    • Salesforce: APEX, Lightning Components, SOQL, SOSL, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ, Marketing Cloud
    • Software: MS Office, Excel, Visual Studio, Jira, Confluence, MS Teams, TFS, GitHub, SSRS
    • Operating Systems: Linux, Windows Server 2008 and above, Windows 10
    • Methodologies: Agile/Scrum

    Normal business hours, with some on-call support work needed (on rotation).
