    Position Purpose

    We are seeking an experience Controller to lead a high performing Accounting Team in a dynamic, rapidly growing organization.     The Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and is responsible for the accounting and treasury operations for The Signatry. In this role you will guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures, review/establish and enforce internal controls and cultivate a sound control environment, oversee and manage the annual audit and provide key support for the annual 990 tax return filings. Additionally, you will develop and provide financial reporting and analysis in support of the Executive Team and the Board.

    Work Location

    This position is full time and located in our office in Overland Park, KS. This position can be hybrid, combining work from home and in office.

    Primary Responsibilities

    1. Manage the general ledger by directing the month end close process, including overseeing the completion of all journals for The Signatry operations. Ensure all account and bank reconciliations are completed and workpapers maintained and documented to support internal analysis and external audit support. Responsible for ensuring The Signatry financial statements are fully GAAP compliant with all regulations governing a donor advised fund sponsor.
    2. Lead the consolidation accounting for a multi-entity organization. Establish and oversee the accounting processes necessary to ensure that all consolidations are complete confirm accurate consolidated financial statements.
    3. Oversee fund accounting for the donor advised fund accounts including fee with focus on the financial statements developed from journal entries from our donor advised fund software platform.
    4. Manage and coordinate the annual external audit of The Signatry consolidated financial statements. Establish and maintain required documentation, internal controls and accounting practices.
    5. Support the preparation of the foundation's annual 990 tax return filings. Develop and maintain documentation and reporting in support of the tax return for all financial data required.
    6. Identify and develop key performance metrics for the Senior Executive team and the Board of Directors.
    7. Support the development of the annual budget and budget versus actual reporting, variance analysis and forecasting.
    8. Develop and maintain cash flow analysis and projections to ensure adequate cash flow to support The Signatry operations. Oversee and reconcile funds flow between multiple Signatry bank accounts. Partner with the CFO to prepare reporting and analysis for the Executive Team and the Board.
    9. Hire, train, mentor and lead the Accounting Team, to ensure a high performing team in alignment with our goals and culture of The Signatry team.
    10. Generate and implement new ideas and approaches, challenge the status quo, strive for continuous improvement. Identify and implement efficiencies in payroll, accounts payable and general ledger through processes and software tools.
    11. Develop a strong partnership with other members of the Finance Leadership Team, fostering strong collaboration in performing the position responsibilities, fostering our culture and achieving Finance Department goals.

    Key Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with demonstrated progression of responsibility with 7-10 years of experience
    • CPA and MBA Preferred
    • Strong interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills required to convey information and analysis clearly.
    • Demonstrated ability to work both across the Finance team and the broader Organization including Operations and Sales, at all organizational levels
    • Strong management skills but also the ability and desire to work personally on projects and analysis
    • A strong supporter of the team and growing a strong team
    • Ability to work in a fast- paced environment and react quickly to changes in direction
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
