We are looking for substitutes for our Midtown location at Ponce City Market.  Our substitutes stay very busy with shifts in the afternoon to cover teacher breaks and preparation time, filling in for faculty who are absent or on vacation, or, to cover open positions.

Substitutes are an extremely important part of our school environment. The substitute teacher supports the Montessori Teachers and Associate Teachers in the classroom with preparing and maintaining the Montessori environment. Key roles of a substitute teacher are maintaining the classroom environment, providing basic care of children, supervision of children, positive redirection of children, and ensuring that all health and safety protocols are followed.  We also provide free training and professional development to our subs, including CPR and First Aid, Positive Discipline, and Health and Safety Training.

• Credentials: To be hired as a Substitute, we only require a high school degree. However, if you wish to be considered for permanent full time employee in the future, you will need at a minimum an Associate's Degree for infant/toddler, and at a minimum a bachelor's degree for early childhood classrooms.
• Regulatory requirements: In order to work as a substitute, you must comply with certain regulatory requirements including a mandatory national background check. We also require you to have an updated CPR and First Aid training, but will provide that training to those who do not have it along with an online Health and Safety training.
• Prior Experience: We seek individuals who have worked with young children, but are also open to those who want to see if teaching young children is for them long term.
• Schedule Considerations: We give preference to hiring substitutes who are looking for part-time work versus full-time work to ensure we can meet their scheduling expectations.  Further, in order to provide consistency in our classrooms, we prefer candidates with a wide range of availability (i.e. daily in the afternoons). If a full-time faculty position is what you seek, we encourage you to apply for a full-time faculty position instead of substitute so that we better review your options.
