    JMT's Harrisburg Traffic Team is seeking a Project Engineer to be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform traffic engineering and operations related tasks through the application of relevant design criteria, standards, and processes including the systems engineering process
    • Prepare traffic signal, signing, pavement marking, and intelligent transportation system (ITS) design plans
    • Prepare maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT), transportation management plans (TMP), and detour plans for design projects
    • Prepare operational studies for existing and emerging technologies as they relate to Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO)
    • Develop construction cost estimates and prepare specifications
    • Perform traffic safety and traffic analysis studies
    • Coordinate with internal team members through the project development process
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related course work to Traffic Engineering from ABET accredited engineering program
    • 6 – 10 years related experience outside of coursework
    • Engineer-in-training certification or Professional Engineer license
    • Experience with the Highway Capacity Manual and the Highway Safety Manual
    • Experience with Highway Capacity Software and Synchro/Simtraffic
    • Knowledgeable at using Vissim preferred
    • Some experience or understanding of highway design preferred
    • Knowledge of inroads or other design software a plus preferred
    • Experience working with state and/or municipal clients preferred

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

     

    Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.

  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

     

    The Public Health Clinical Laboratory Technicians must qualify under one of the following options:

     

    • Be a doctor of medicine, doctor of osteopathy, or doctor of podiatric medicine licensed to practice medicine, osteopathy, or podiatry in the State in which the laboratory is located.
    • Have earned a doctoral, master’s or bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
    • Have earned an associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
    • Have education and training equivalent to an associate’s degree that includes at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, includes either:
      • 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or
      • 24 semester hours of science courses that include: six (6) semester hours of chemistry, six (6) semester hours of biology; and twelve (12) semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination;

    AND 

      • Have laboratory training that includes either of the following:
        • Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS; or
        • At least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
    • Be a high school graduate or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).
