    We are currently seeking a talented CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST - GRAVEYARD SHIFT to join our growing team.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will lead the COVID-19 testing workflow, ensure proper COVID-19 test performance and reporting of results, and provide direct and constant laboratory supervision and guidance to all unlicensed team members. The CLS will be expected to work closely with the assay development team and quality assurance team.

    • Provide technical and general supervision for the entire COVID-19 testing workflow during your shift. Quickly identify and analyze problems and find solutions supported by data.
    • Plan out and communicate the daily testing workflow to your team members to meet turnaround times for all customers while ensuring the highest level of quality. Define, formalize, and share your work processes across shifts and departments.
    • Provide ongoing qualification and competency training to testing personnel. Communicate effectively with team members about how they can improve their bench skills or learn new skills and listen to what they need to improve.
    • Take appropriate action in response to critical values or unusual or unexpected results, and documents the action taken. Present these results with proposed solutions and action plans.
    • Understand and communicate regulations from CLIA, CDPH, CAP, and HIPPA ensuring compliance. Acknowledge any mistakes or negative outcomes in testing and develop corrective action plans.
    • Function as a General Supervisor and Technical Supervisor during your shift and be responsible for the proper performance and reporting of test results.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Possess a current California State CLS license (Generalist); AND

    • Earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and have at least 6 years of laboratory experience in high complexity testing with at least 2 years within virology; OR
    • Earned a master's degree from an accredited institution and have at least 3 years of laboratory experience in high complexity testing with at least 1 year within virology; OR
    • Earned a doctoral degree from an accredited institution and have at least 1 year of laboratory experience in high complexity testing with at least 1 year within virology

    2+ years of experience working on a quality assurance team OR

    2+ years of experience working in a team developing or validating new assay.

    Expert knowledge of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique and of real-time PCR platforms, including software and hardware.

    Independently researches and learns new tools and new technologies in molecular diagnostics.

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, biotechnology, or biomedical engineering; AND
    • Previous experience leading assay development and validation; OR
    • Previous experience leading a team to implement quality assurance plan.
