Job Description

We are a 70 year-old, family-owned business looking for EXCEPTIONAL STUDENTS WITH AN INTEREST IN THE CREATIVE ASPECTS OF RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS to join our 10 week internship program. This internship is designed to allow hands-on experience in ADVERTISING, PHOTOGRAPHY AND STUDIO SET UP, STORE LAYOUT AND DESIGN, MARKETING AND DIGITAL ALONG WITH OTHER POSSIBILITIES. Our internships consist of on the job learning and allow participants to take these meaningful skills on to future employment. This summer experience is accompanied by an introduction to how The Vermont Country Store provides service to and takes part in our surrounding communities, an extraordinary quality that our company values.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Professional License: 

• Working toward an undergraduate or graduate program in Creative Design, Advertising, Marketing or other 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience: 

• Students with practical or educational experiences in business, design, advertising, marketing 

• Excellent writing and communication skills 

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

• Ability to work independently 

_Language Skills: _

• Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively with co-workers 

_Reasoning Skills: _

• Ability to apply common sense and critical thinking to carry out instructions and make decisions within scope of authority 

• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables 

• Ability to follow policies and procedures 

Computer Skills: 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and internet usage 

• Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat

• Experience with online media, and social networks

• Photography and video shooting skills a plus

• Ability to write clear and concise e-mails
