With a focus on commercial, institutional, industrial, residential, multi-tenant sites, and public works projects the Drainage Project Engineer will perform design tasks for a variety of projects including drainage design, grading, roadways, and site & utility layout.

VERTEX’s diverse range of projects will allow the selected Engineer to rapidly expand their knowledge base and grow their responsibilities. You will perform and direct the preparation of design and construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, supporting documents, and permit applications with a team of Designers and Engineers, with an increasing level and frequency of supervision and scheduling of team members. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other discipline Engineers on multi-discipline projects.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform and verify design computations and plan preparation for conformance with codes, manuals, and design considerations
• Attend and participate in client and agency meetings as appropriate
• Prepare and review site/civil designs
• Research code requirements and design standards & specifications
• Coordinate with other Engineers, Civil 3D Technicians, and administrative assistants during preliminary and final document preparation
• Prepare correspondence, technical specifications, studies, and design reports
• Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field
• 2+ years of professional site/civil design engineering experience, including site grading, drainage, roadway, and utility layout design 
• EIT licensure is preferred
• Ability to travel independently to visit sites throughout the region is required
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English
• Ability to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities under fast-paced conditions
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
• Civil 3D (AutoCAD) proficiency required

Additional Information

The hiring range for a candidate with the experience specified is a base compensation of $50,000/year to $75,000/year.

The complete base compensation range for this salaried role is $47,250/year to $94,500/year.
