    This is a HANDS-ON, IN-THE-FIELD role in our Loss Control division working alongside one of our technicians evaluating the condition of existing multifamily residential structures. Typically, architects spend a couple of days in the field conducting inspections, a couple of days reviewing field information and writing client reports, and one-day conducting peer reviews of construction plans/drawings and participating in other projects.

    THIS ROLE IS PRIMARILY REMOTE, BUT COVERS PROJECTS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, WITH UP TO 80% TRAVEL IN THAT AREA. 

    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

    • Conduct field inspections of existing residential structures
    • Supervise technician on project sites
    • Research and remain current on residential building code requirements in California
    • Third-party review of drawings at various stages of design, associated details and specifications
    • Effective management of all assigned activities, meeting budget and delivery time frames all to ensure client satisfaction
    • Execute responsibilities with technical proficiency, accuracy, and professionalism
    • Participating in business development ventures and presentations, including regular contact with existing and prospective clients in the region, as needed
    • Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
    • Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans for the site where required
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • ARCHITECTURE LICENSE (AIA) FROM STATE OF CALIFORNIA (CURRENT AND ACTIVE) IS REQUIRED
    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Master a plus)
    • Minimum of five years’ experience as a professional architect in the design, inspection, and construction of residential structures
    • Working knowledge of the California Building Code, wood framing and fire-rated construction requirements
    • Understanding of building envelope and waterproofing requirements
    • Understanding and expertise with accessibility and ADA preferred
    • Ability to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities
    • Working knowledge of standard software packages, AUTOCAD familiarity required
    • Confidence to render educated decisions and opinions
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Strong technical report writing skills
    • Ability/willingness for frequent regional travel (Northern and Central California and occasional national travel) for field work (valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required)
