    Job Description

    Walden School, a Pre-K through 6th Grade progressive school is seeking a full-time K/1 Associate Teacher to cover a 3 month leave beginning October 2021.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

    • Support the Lead/Specialty Teachers as directed in matters regarding classroom, curriculum, and students.
    • Plan and provide instruction for small groups of children in Language Arts, Math, or other subjects ai collaboration with the classroom teacher.
    • Actively supervise and develop play invitations for core classes at snack, lunch, recess period.
    • Step into the role of Lead Teacher when the classroom teacher is out of the room including scheduled and unscheduled absences.
    • Write parent communication
    • Support classroom events and trips including, but not limited to: day trips, camping or overnight trips, presentations, and performances.
    • Assist in preparing and maintaining the classroom environment and materials.
    • Observe student behaviors and step in when appropriate, communicating student progress or concerns with the Lead Teacher, parent and other relevant members of the Walden community.
    • Maintain order and manage the class in a subtle and non-disruptive manner during lessons; work with the Lead Teacher to preserve and protect lessons.
    • Act in a way that exemplifies and models Walden's expectations of respecting personal dignity, commitment to conflict resolution, and diversity.
    • Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions for position, classroom, or grade level.
    • Work collaboratively with ALL members (i.e., children, parents, lead and specialty teachers, administrators,) of the Walden community to provide support as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree, with early-childhood education units desired for positions in Pre-K-2nd.
    • Demonstrated desire to work with children
    • Experience working with children (e.g. summer camps, tutoring, babysitting, teaching experience)
    • Flexible attitude and ability to collaborate
    • A growth mindset
