Bussing at The Washington House is a great job for people who want to get into the restaurant business, or just want to learn how to work! Bussers will learn responsibility, time management, and self motivation, as well as the hospitality skills we are well known for! Bussers work 4 to 5 hour fast paced shifts on weeknights and weekends.
Busser responsibilities:
Engage with each customer to make them feel welcome and comfortable-make eye contact
Fill water glasses when guests arrive and keep them full throughout their meal
Clear courses when everyone at the table is done and remove all appropriate silverware and glasses
Reset tables neatly with all appropriate silverware, glassware, cloths, etc. and sanitize as necessary
Follow all restaurant protocols for "Washington House" service
Restock stations with silverware, plates etc, to be able to reset tables efficiently and accurately
Carry buspans of dirty dishes to kitchen and unload
Work cooperatively with all front of house, back of house, hotel and theater staff to maintain a positive work environment at all times
Busser requirements:
Reliable transportation to and from work
Availability to work varied hours/days
Ability to lift and carry heavy plates, buspans and dining room tables and chairs when necessary
Must be at least 17, working papers required for those applicants 17 or 18 years old
