Strong regional food distributor is currently in search of an experienced Transportation Supervisor to join its team within its operation near Elkhart, Indiana. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a Transportation Supervisor, Driver Supervisor, or Lead Driver within a fast-paced distribution environment, ideally distributing food, beverages, or consumer packaged goods. The company is in search of a hands-on leader with a current CDL who is willing to conduct ride-alongs on a routine basis and cover routes on occasion.

The Transportation Supervisor will have responsibility for leading transportation operations within a regional distribution center. Primary responsibilities include:

• Leadership and management of company drivers, including hands-on involvement in driver recruiting and retention
• Oversight of transportation routing, DOT compliance, and electronic logs
• Primary liaison with the company’s contracted fleet maintenance provider
• Ensuring superior service to the company’s customer base, operating with a sense of urgency to follow up on any delivery issues that may arise

Key requirements to be considered for this critical role:

• You MUST HAVE at least 3-5 years of progressive experience in private fleet driver management, ideally from within a food distributor or wholesale grocer. 
• You should be local to the area. Relocation assistance may be considered for an exceptional candidate, but strong preference will be given to local candidates who are familiar with the area able to leverage local contacts for driver recruitment.
• Class A CDL required
