Leading food distribution company is currently in search of an experienced Buyer to join its team within one of its regional facilities in Indiana. This buyer role will focus primarily on commodity items, especially frozen seafood. The ideal candidate will have current experience as a Buyer or Category Manager within a foodservice distributor, wholesale grocer, or supermarket organization, focused on perishable commodity items.

The Buyer will have overall responsibility for purchasing, including vendor negotiations, in the assigned category. This is a highly collaborative role within the organization, working closely with the sales, marketing, warehousing, transportation, and logistics teams.

Key requirements to be considered for this role:

• You MUST HAVE at least five (5) years of purchasing experience within a foodservice distributor or grocery distribution atmosphere, focused on perishable commodities. Seafood procurement experience is strongly preferred.
• You must have a strong skill set in negotiating with key vendors and suppliers to obtain the strongest possible margins for the company
• You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• You must have experience with a mainstream ERP package and strong MS Office skills
• You must have a strong, stable work history
